This weekend is best for travel

Britons looking for the perfect holiday should go away this weekend, take a two-week break and choose the UK or western Europe, it was revealed today.

They should also take their partner and opt for a break that is a mixture of adventure, culture and sun, a poll by travel company isango found.

The period between July 11-13 is seen as the best time to go away, with a two-week holiday being more popular than a 10-day trip or a long weekend break.

More than two in five think the UK or western Europe is the ideal destination, with only 8% opting for Asia.

While the beach holiday remains popular, slightly more of the 2,000 people polled prefer activity holidays, city breaks and road trips.

A partner is easily the most popular person to go away with, with children, friends and parents the next most popular. Just 2% want to go away with work colleagues.

Going over budget is the biggest holiday concern, followed by long queues, local touts and not having enough to do.

As many as 20% said they dislike going on holiday as they argue about what to do, while 27% say they come back from a break feeling tired and in need of more time away.
