LADIES these days want to do all sorts of weird and wacky activities for their hen parties... but throwing themselves out of a plane?

That’s exactly what Stacey Reed, of North Shore, has planned for her celebration.

The 28-year-old, who will tie the knot with fiancé Wesley Gaskill in June, has chosen to spend her hen party doing a fund-raising skydive.

Stacey, of Clevedon Road, works as an auxiliary nurse at Trinity Hospice, in Bispham, and wanted to do something to help the charity.

The mum-of-one said: “I just felt, for my hen do, I wanted to do something special, but also raise money for Trinity at the same time.

“Initially, I thought about a bungee jump, but then decided on a parachute jump.

“I hate heights and am petrified of flying, so it will very much be a challenge for me. They call it aversion therapy, don’t they?

“Most of my friends and family think I am mad. When I suggested it to my friends, some said they were happy to sponsor me, and meet me afterwards to support me, but didn’t want to do it themselves.

“But six of them will jump.

“Even those who are not jumping are going to come along on the day for moral support, and go for a drink after.

“The people I work with at the hospice just think I am a nutter, but they’re really pleased I’m doing it.”

Stacey hopes her rather unusual way of spending her hen party will raise awareness, as well as money, for Trinity.

She said: “I work nights at Trinity and have been there just over two years. It’s so wonderful the work the hospice does, and it helps so many local people.

“I don’t think people always realise about the work done at Trinity, or the fact they rely on donations.

“I think people are generally aware of the palliative side of things, but don’t realise about all the other support and care Trinity provides.

“I’m hoping lots of people will sponsor me, to help raise as much money as possible.”
