SHOWZAM REVIEW: Circus stars on fire

Circus Bollywood at Blackpool Tower Circus

Circus Bollywood at Blackpool Tower Circus

BLACKPOOL Tower Circus acts are on fire for the Showzam festival… literally!

Talented acrobats and trapeze artists reaching dizzying heights are normally enough to impress circus fans.

But the resort’s performers take their acts to a whole new daredevil level during the two-hour show.

Despite being centred on a tale of Mr Boo’s Bollywood-themed wedding, there was less romance and more of Mooky the clown’s much-loved toilet humour to keep the children giggling.

The opening act – fire eaters and jugglers – stole the show, spraying huge flames into the air and swallowing balls of fire.

Even the hula hoop act turned up the heat with a fire ring spinning around her after simultaneously twirling dozens of hoops.

The decent-sized crowd gave the skipping juggler a huge round of applause while Mooky and Mr Booo’s slapstick sketches were as funny as ever.

The audience’s nerves were shot before the interval when the knife throwing act performed their astonishing death defying moves.

As if seeing knives being lobbed at the artist’s assistant wasn’t scary enough, a blindfold and star axes were thrown into the equation to add extra thrill.

After the interval, a juggling duo entertained on unicycles followed by some energetic break-dancing and impressive somersaults by a tight rope walker.

The vibrant Bollywood style dancing, brightly coloured, sequin embellished costumes and lively music intertwined with impressive circus acts makes it a fabulous family show.
