Rossall Arts Week celebrates its 10th anniversary this week with a pageant of music, drama, dance and exhibitions.

In addition to the works of world famous composers and playwrights, the artistic pupils at Rossall School, will be showcasing their abilities in the visual and performance arts, with a series of musical concerts, drama presentations film and art exhibitions on the Fleetwood campus.

The events are expected to play to an audience of around 3,000 people during the programme, which runs until March 13.

Among the many features will be a music at twilight performance in the school's gothic chapel tonight which will feature local composer and flautist, Andrew Keeling, whose work has been performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, virtuoso percussionist, Evelyn Glennie and legendary rock band, King Crimson.

Also performing at stages throughout the week will be Rossall's school choir, fresh from successful performances in St Mark's Basilica in Venice.

There will also be daily and evening drama productions in the School's Museum Theatre and the week ends with Rossall's Footlights Review on Saturday.

All events are open to parents and the public and are free to attend, although donations to Donna's Dream House are welcomed.

Created a decade ago by Rossall School music teacher, Stuart Corrie, Rossall Arts Week is now an established event in the area's artistic calendar.

"With Old Rossallians like composer Sir Thomas Beecham and the creator of The Saint Leslie Charteris, together with contemporary figures like Little Boots there's a significant legacy to inspire today's pupils," said Stuart Corrie. "Our Arts Week brings out the best in them in the form of music, drama and artwork, which is why the public attends in such numbers."
