Plea for pirates
Penzance may be famous for its pirates but in Marton they're a little thin on the ground.
Marton Operatic Society has been rehearsing its next show –The Pirates of Penzance – for several weeks now ready for performing at Lowther Pavilion in Lytham from October 13 to 17.
But with the male chorus split between Policeman (bass) and Pirates (tenor) the society has found it has plenty of the former but is a little short of the latter.
So if you can sing tenor and fancy your chances as a Pirate now's your opportunity.
The Pirates of Penzance includes some of the best known chorus numbers in musical theatre including When a Felon's Not Engaged In His Employment and With Catlike Tread.
The society rehearses on Wednesday evenings at the LAOS Studios at Whitehills, behind B&Q Blackpool. The location is very accessible from Lytham, St Annes, Blackpool and The Fylde.
Prospective tenors could contact Tony Alman (01253) 353784, Ken Dagger (01253) 838321 or Irvine Bell (01253) 738070 or contact the society via its
website, which you will find at www.martonoperatic.co.uk
