HELP us make this year bigger and better than ever.
That was Blackpool Pleasure Beach boss Amanda Thompson’s plea to the tourism community as she urged the town to pull together to make 2012 a resounding success.
She addressed dozens of hoteliers as the popular attraction launched its programme of events for this year – including brand new magic shows, a remodelled Revolution ride and the annual Hot Ice spectacular.
Ms Thompson, the park’s managing director, said: “This is the year Blackpool is really coming together. We’ve got to move forward and get visitor numbers back up.
“The most important thing for Blackpool is to beat everyone’s expectations of a northern seaside resort.
“We can’t just meet expectations we have to go that extra mile to make every customer so happy and so welcome.”
Among the new attractions at the park this season is the La Quebrada show – a diving show featuring six dare devil gold medal-winning divers, performing in the shadow of the Big One.
The new Hot Ice show – Entice – starts in July and the Horseshoe Show Bar will play host to a new magic show, High Jinx, as well as the 24th year of Ken Webster’s mentalist/hypnotist show.
Ms Thompson added: “It’s all about making Blackpool fabulous and great again – when the sun shines there’s no place better.”
Hoteliers were also given the chance to check out Nickelodeon Land – which celebrates its first birthday on May 4 – and Trish Wood from the New Alvon, on Coronation Street, said: “Hopefully 2012 will be a good year – we want it to be.”
Joanne Hart, from the Sandhurst Hotel, on Osborne Road, added: “I think the shows look absolutely brilliant and Nickelodeon Land is good – I’ve never seen it before.”
