Lancashire’s new bishop took a walk of faith with a difference when he visited Blackpool Tower.

Rev Julian Henderson visited the resort as one of his stops on a prayer vigil across Lancashire following his consecration at York Minster.

The Bishop – accompanied by the Archdeacon of Lancaster, The Venerable Michael Everitt – met with local clergy and was given a tour of the attraction, including the famous Tower Ballroom.

He was then taken to the top of the Tower, along with his wife Heather, where they took some time to pray for the town and its people before making the ‘walk of faith’ … onto a glass floor with nothing underneath him, except a bird’s eye view of the Comedy Carpet.

Bishop Julian said: “On this vigil I am praying for all aspects of the life of the county and the church and this stop was an opportunity to pray for the town of Blackpool.”
