The new royal baby is set for a spectacular welcome in Blackpool.
Bosses at Blackpool Tower are planning to light up the famous attraction in pink if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby is a girl, or in blue if it is a boy.
Technicians checked all of its 25,000 LED lights were in full working order this week in preparation for the announcement of the birth.
And Kenny Mew, head of operations for the Blackpool Tower Eye is now on standby with food supplies, pyjamas and a camp bed, waiting to hear the gender of the royal baby so the lights can be switched on as soon as the announcement is made.
He said: “I feel honoured to have been given the role of switching on the lights.”
