JOHN Davies-Allen is hoping that some of the regular tipplers at an historic Blackpool pub will remember who served them there more than 50 years ago.
And more importantly, if they have any idea of their whereabouts today.
The spotlight is on the Lifeboat Inn, Foxhall Road, just yards behind the Promenade.
John, who has provided a photograph of the pub back in the late 1950s, along with a picture of the team behind the bar, says: “As you can see it was a Lion Ales pub at the time.
“My grandfather John (Jack) Davies worked there with his mother Eliza Davies and stepfather Billy Walton. Another staff member was Maggie Hornby, my mother’s aunt.
“The exterior view shows Eliza and Billy in the pub doorway.
“The only other information I know is that they had the pub for 10 or so years from the mid 1950s to 1964 and then my grandfather later went on to work at Milady Toffee on Victory Road.”
John says: “I would like to know if anyone remembers any of these names and if there are any family members of my Great Aunt Maggie (Margaret) Hornby still living in Blackpool or elsewhere on the Fylde coast.”
