HOW many Fylde coast students can you get into a caravan at the same time?
The question is posed by Memory Lane reader Andrew Jenkinson, of Bispham, who shares this photograph from 1968.
He says: “Blackpool Technical Collage students were hoping to get 100 of their fellow students into this 12ft long caravan as part of Rag week. The caravan was made local company, Fleetwind Caravans, at Naze Lane, Freckelton where one of the bosses decided this would be a great bit of publicity for his firm.
“The caravan is a shell with no furniture in it or windows and only bare alumnium panels. Fleetwind ran until 1980 and exported its tourers and holiday home models as far as Sweden.
“The stunt was a tight squeeze but apparently 78 managed to get in.”
