HERE is a photograph of a Sunday School concert at the old Chapel Street Methodist Church, which has arrived back in Blackpool via New Zealand.

A few months ago we featured a picture of York Street’s 1953 Coronation party emailed from Rod Lea who now lives Down Under. Ken Davitt, a long-lost old friend, contacted Rod after the article, and the two have exchanged countless emails and photographs since.

Ken says: “My grandmother used to live in York Street before moving round the corner to Coop Street.

“I sent him a copy of our party in Coop Street, where I was born and lived until the early 1950s. Then he sent this photograph of a Sunday School concert, which shows myself, my wife Pat and sister Christine, as children, taken around 1950 or 1951.”

Ken Davitt is fourth right on second row from top, wife Pat (nee Hughes) is eighth from right on top row, and his sister Christine is third left, front row.

He adds: “I would love anyone who is in the photo to get in touch with me. Chapel Street Methodist and New Central combined in 1996, and I would like to exhibit the picture with any information concerning it at New Central, where we have just established an historical records and artefacts room for both churches.”
