Spurred on by the success of last year’s reunion, 50 years after they started at Layton Hill Convent, some “old girls” intend to repeat the gathering later this month.

One of the organisers, Elizabeth Boniface, nee Jennings, says: “People came from far and wide and it was lovely to see so many old friends again. The reunion started with a tour around St Mary’s, as the old convent became, to see the progress of the new college buildings.”

This year the former classmates will meet up at the Cube in Poulton on Saturday September 28 at 12.30pm.

Elizabeth says: “We hope to attract even more ‘old girls’ who began at Layton Hill in September 1962.”

Here we publish a photograph from 1963 and although their faces are not too clear, some of the girls, in no particular order, are Pauline Gallagher, Magda Koc, Dilys Garner, Rachel Rodway, Jane McHarrie, Anne Harrington, Pat Murtagh, Elizabeth Baggaley, Susan Cox, Elizabeth Jennings and Janet Street.

The other picture shows last year’s half century reunion.
