They might share the same surname but Carolyn Dee admits she has drawn a blank in getting any information on this photograph of 1960s TV and radio personality Simon Dee surrounded by bathing beauties.
She thinks she has narrowed its location down to either Blackpool or Morecambe and hopes Memory Lane readers might know more.
This is just one of hundreds of pictures left to Carolyn by a close friend, Leo Carter, a national press photographer, of Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, when he died 12 years ago.
Carolyn says: “For many years Leo attended the beauty queen contests at Blackpool and Morecambe, covering Miss Blackpool, Miss Morecambe, Miss Great Britain and Miss UK.
“The Simon Dee picture, I am guessing, is Blackpool. I tried to match the girls’ hair and costumes, sashes and background to other pictures, and it was possibly taken in July 1967.”
She has had some success in identifying another picture in the extensive collection, tracking it to Blackpool in 1967 and naming the girl on the left as Elizabeth Lamb, of Morecambe and the contestant on the far right as Barbara Ponsford, of Chesterfield.

For the record, Simon Dee was a stage name – he was born Cyril Nicholas Henty-Dodd and died in August 2009, aged 74.
