Junior skaters offered a chance in the spotlight

It's not just international champion skaters Blackpool Pleasure Beach wants to put in the limelight.

Now the search is on for talented young ice performers in an all new competition, The Big One Talent On Ice.

The competition welcomes performers aged 5 to 16 years old to take to the ice and dazzle judges with their skating skills whether solo, in pairs or groups.

The Big One On Ice Talent Show will take place in the Pleasure Beach Arena with three heats being held from 10am on Thursdays August 5, 12 and 19 with the grand final on August 26.

The competition is to be judged by Amanda Thompson, president of Stageworks Worldwide Productions and director of the Hot Ice show, and Antony Johns, who choreographs Hot Ice as well as many other shows.

On the competition, Amanda Thompson said: "Ice skating has a long history here at the Pleasure Beach with us having our own rink, The Arena for over 70 years. The Big One Talent On Ice continues this tradition and allows the next generation of skaters to show off their talents."
