It's true Slander

One of the biggest names from Blackpool's heavy metal past is back with a bang.

After splitting up years ago, Slander have now re-formed and will be showcasing their Metali-Bonkers Tour 2010 at Gillespie's on Topping Street this Thursday from 9.30pm.

The Slander line-up of Andrew Saxon Lamb (guitars), Steve Slater (vocals), Joe Tyreman (bass) and Andy 'Edz' Edwards (drums) now bill themselves as "fat, bald, twisted and bitter" and are currently putting the finishing touches to a new album at the Zoo Studio in Nuneaton.

During their absence from the live music scene their original vinyl album – Careless Talk Costs Lives – has been heavily bootlegged in Germany where they now have a strong fan base.

The new album – simply being called Slander – will be mainly distributed in Europe.

Thursday's gig was originally scheduled for The Royal Oak at South Shore back in July but was called off when the pub management at the time stopped all bands (new management has now re-introduced live music to the Lytham Road venue every weekend).

"It was a shame when it fell through but when this one was offered in a town centre venue we jumped at it," said frontman Steve Slater.

"We aren't looking for a residency anywhere or anything like that – just the opportunity to play our new set on home turf to a select crowd of true hard rock fans in an intimate setting which has a good atmosphere and a good reputation. It should be a great night."

Slander have played several biker festivals in the Midlands during the summer and hope to be announcing new dates in the near future.
