Icelandic soprano leading gala show

LEADING Icelandic soprano Gudrun Livingstone is lending her classic operatic tones to a concert in Fleetwood this month.

She will head the talented line-up for an Opera Gala at Rossall School, Fleetwood on Saturday June 21.

The venue, the School's impressive Museum Theatre will reverberate to the sounds of some of the world's great composers, when works by Bizet, Mozart, Delibes, Puccini and many more are performed by a string of talented performers.

The programme will include many well-loved arias.

Joining Gudrun Livingstone, a regular performer with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, will be soprano Lucy Mairs and internationally renowned baritone, Mark Holland, whose performance credits include the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and other top European opera houses.

Supporting musicians will include flautist, Andrew Keeling, violinist Hannah Emmett and Rossall School music teachers Margaret Young and Stuart Corrie.

Pupils from the school will also be performing, including gifted young pianists Kengo and Ayano Minato of Thornton Cleveleys, who are former Blackpool Music Festival prize winners who are tipped as future concert pianists.

The concert begins at 6pm.

Dress for the event is black tie and tickets are 15 for adults and 3 for Rossall pupils.
