GRAB your legwarmers and dust off the shoulder pads – Lytham is heading back to the 1980s.

This year’s Proms festival will not just be opened by one star, a whole host of retro legends are taking to the stage.

Rick Astley, Belinda Carlisle, Bananarama and Toyah are just some of the iconic stars who’ll be partying on Lytham Green when the “Here and Now” tour comes to town.

Curiosity Killed the Cat, Carol Decker, The Real Thing and T’Pau will also appear as the 80’s acts kick off the star-studded weekend on Friday, August 3.

Fleetwood opera star Alfie Boe headlines on the Saturday night, with Sunday’s big name yet to be revealed.

Festival organisers Cuffe and Taylor today promised the opening night would be “Lytham’s biggest party”, and a spokesman for the St Annes based event company said: “Here and Now, The Very Best of the 80’s is a great way to open Lytham Proms Festival Weekend 2012.

“The line-up is terrific and it promises to be a night of fun and dancing.

“The Friday night is traditionally our ‘heritage’ night, so this fits in perfectly. We hope the audience come along in great spirits, ready to dance and sing the night away.”
