Gareth Gates and friends at the Galleon

The Galleon owner Stephen Pierre is pushing the boat out for his 40th birthday party tomorrow.

Everybody – yes absolutely everybody – is welcome, at the Abingdon Street venue.

“I have a number of surprise guests attending along with the resident house band and DJ,” says Stephen.

“The party is open to all, and it is a nice way to end January, which has been quite a tough month for many of my friends and valued customers.

“With the magic of Facebook, I have been able to invite many old pals who, over the years, I had lost touch with.

“Twenty years ago, when I spent a lot of my youth listening to jazz at the old Galleon bar on Adelaide Street, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would be the proud owner of the new Galleon, encouraging live music to new generations of aspiring young talent.

“We had a surprise visit from Gareth Gates last week who had heard about our music den and wanted to see it for himself. As many will recall, the old Galleon in the days of the summer season shows attracted a large number of celebrities and local artistes.”
