SHOWZAM REVIEW: Fast pace magic to drop jaws

Steve Faulkner - Magic Monday

Steve Faulkner - Magic Monday

Magic Monday - Merrie England, North Pier. How on earth did he do that?

That was pretty much all that was going through my head throughout the whole two hour Magic Monday show at the Merrie England last night.

Anyone who can produce a bottle of wine out of thin air, that’s my kind of guy – and so magician Steve Faulkner had his audience captivated from his first illusion.

His quick slight of hand, funny banter and relaxed interaction with the crowd made him the perfect host for the show, which attracted a huge audience.

Swallowing needles – tested for their sharpness by a member of the audience – and then regurgitating them was a jaw-dropping act while his cup magic left everyone baffled when a melon and a handful of oranges appeared on the table.

Next up was Alan Hudson who was great at working the crowd with his blindfold balloon trick while the ‘how to escape from being rolled up in clingfilm’ act was a particular highlight from Slightly Fat Features.

John Archer – the first man to fool American illusionists Penn and Teller – then threw in a bit of variety with magic mixed with a ukulele.

The whole show was fast paced and left the crowd hoping the acts will work their magic to ensure they return to Blackpool again soon.
