Send in clowns to round off a sparkling children’s show

Dance Sparkle - Pleasure Beach Horseshoe Showbar

ANOTHER year has passed, or are we in a “Time Warp?” South Shore’s own, The Dance Place, must often feel they are, after 28 years of staging shows and guiding hundreds of children through the ranks.

Still they manage to produce a fresh and vibrant production with something to suit most members of the family. This year sees a stylish and technical tap tribute to crooner Michael Buble, a girlie Hannah Montana section and a Glee-inspired Rocky Horror. “Favourite Things” musical “The Sound of Music,” was led by Becca Green as pure-voiced Maria, and even featured the singing nuns!

Act Two included a magical and spell binding ballet set in “Narnia” with character soloists, Casey White as the White Witch, Emily Barker, Lydia Blyth, Connor Riding (a little star!), and Carys Williams as the children who enter the magic wardrobe, and Natasha Winstanley as Mr Tumnus. A fabulous all-singing all-dancing excerpt from the recent hit musical “Shrek” featured all the favourite fairytale characters, three wonderful Princess Fionas in Hollie Lee, Isabel Clacher and Katie Lee, and a highly amusing vertically challenged Lord Farquad played by Ryan Woods.

Of course, the loveable Tiny Tots were an instant hit but the unquestionable highlight of the evening was a moving rendition from the acrobatic team of “Send in the Clowns” sung faultlessly and most maturely by Jessica Croston – outstanding. These youngsters certainly continue to keep Blackpool sparkling... The show runs to Saturday at 7.30pm (Saturday matinee at 2pm).
