Art attack set for Lytham

Mike Amatt - Lowther Pavilion Art Attack

Mike Amatt - Lowther Pavilion Art Attack

Break out the Crayolas and be prepared to be Tickled Pink – a Smart Attack of Art is coming to Lytham’s Lowther Pavilion at half-term break.

CBeebies TV presenter Mike Amatt (pictured) is putting the “art” into cartoon and bringing his zany – whacky but very “Artful” show for a welcome return to The Lowther on Tuesday February 14 at 2pm.

“The show has all the elements of those TV art shows and much much more,” said Mike who created the cartoon characters for his first TV series Mop & Smiff back in the 80s and then went on to write and present Playschool.

He also presented Forget Me Not Farm on BBC1 and BBC Choice before it was shown on CBeebies.

“I like to keep the show up to date,” he added. “For example, these days the children love to learn how to draw Spongebob, The Simpsons and Wallace & Gromit as well as Buzz Lightyear with Woody etc but I also keep some of the old favourites in like Mickey Mouse.

“For 2012 I’m introducing a “dinosaur” item” – kids love dinosaurs. There are lots of lollypops to give away and at one point I have six youngsters on stage playing rock guitars. I love giving children of all ages the chance to join me on stage….. and there are lots and lots of opportunities. I even have a spooky ghost story as I paint a haunted castle with ultra violet paint.

“It’s a busy show because that’s what children enjoy.

“ I know because all three of my own children loved watching illustrations develop and come to life.”

As well as doing his stage shows, Mike also visits schools with various performances and workshops for creative writing.

All seats are £7 (a family of four ticket is £25) and tickets are available from the box office on (01253) 794221 and www.lowtherpavilion.co.uk or you can take a chance and pay at the door on the day.
