Christmas has come early to tomorrow’s Grundy-Fylde Arts mid day recital at Springfield Methodist Church.

Wassail, O Wassail! sees the welcome return of Tapestry of Music – Brian and Glynis Radford.

The duo formed in 1978 with the aim of presenting music from medieval to the baroque period on authentic instruments – or copies of originals.

Brian Radford gained his initial experience as a counter tenor lay clerk in several English cathedral choirs, later developing an interest in the recorder, baroque flute and other renaissance woodwind instruments. He divides his time between solo recitals and lecture recitals on early instruments.

Glynis Radford is a graduate of the Northern School of Music, Manchester, where she studied keyboard and singing. Besides playing the harpsichord and spinet, she is the main vocalist in early music programmes and also plays harps, psaltery, symphonie and hurdy-gurdy.

This week’s fascinating programme includes many 13th and 14th century pieces from England, France, Italy, Spain and the Isle of Man, all performed in costume of the period.

The recital begins at 1pm and admission is £7 with £5 for Fylde Arts members.
