Clubland goes head to head

WITH the A-level results out tomorrow, Thursday night sees Blackpool's two biggest nightclubs go head to head to celebrate – or commiserate.

The Syndicate will be holding a special edition of its popular Devotion night and Club Sanuk is converting its regular Switch night into a results festival, coupled with resident DJ Jason Fubar's birthday party.

Only three months since its launch, The Syndicate's Saturday night Devotion branding has been gaining notoriety on a national scale.

Hits on You Tube have seen the Church Street's Glowbot and the Glowgirls gain attention from a new generation of clubbers.

Neil Jennings the club's general manager says: "We have had literally thousands of phone calls asking what time the dancing robot is on."

The interactive choreographed show includes futuristic entertainers, a giant cowboy Glowbot and the Glowgirls, an Ibizan style street parade, stilt walkers jugglers and fire eaters, with crazy costume changes.

Music on Thursday is being hosted in the main dance arena by Lee 'The Jester' Watson (star of TVs Club Reps series) plus local future star DJs who are taking part in a new DJs competition to find and boost local talent.

Club Sanuk's Switch night boasts "four arenas, 18 DJs, one massive party," says organiser Jason Fubar.

"It's the biggest birthday bash ever in Blackpool and it's going to be an epic," he says.

Performing in the Main Arena will be Stoneface & Terminal, Greg Downey, Gavyn Mytchel, Andy P and the Ibiza Knights. Outside in the Terrace Bar and Digital Disco Arena will be Juan Kidd, Jon Rundell, Christian Davies, Jason Fubar, Fraser Todd, Jamie Christer, Richard Parsons (and there's a pre-party from 8pm at Bar 137 on Church Street).

In the Studio and VIP area will be Randy Ron's with Brandon Block, Alex P, John Kelly, Fubar, Danny Howard and the Randy Ron Girls whilst in the Thai Bar's Breakout and Dubstep arena will be Frisk, Luke EP, MKU, Qubed and a variety of MCs.

Doors open from 10pm to 4am.
