Canadian comics in town
Headlining Thursday's Comedy Station bill at The Edge in Poulton is Canadian/Egyptian comic, Wafik Nasralla.
Wafik has played in every venue in the world's largest Comedy Club chain, Yuk Yuk's. Notable other performances include the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the Nubian Disciples of Pryor and the Fruitopia Comedy Festival.
Wafik won the Ottawa finals of Yuk Yuk's Search for Canada's Funniest New Comic in 1994 and was placed third at the National Finals in Toronto. He is currently touring the UK all summer.
Supporting Wafik will be fellow Canadian Mike Sheer. Mike made his stand-up debut at a joke competition in 1985, defeating the other children and winning the first prize of a dollar bill.
After an 18 year hiatus, Sheer returned to the circuit. In his home city of Toronto, he performed monologue, sketch and improvisational comedy and produced events featuring his work.
He also began a career as a professional film and voice-over actor, making an unforgettable cameo as the "I'm So High Kid" in cult favourite Harold & Kumar Go To Whitecastle.
Now based in Manchester, Sheer is winning over UK audiences with his engaging delivery, provocative wit, and keen sense of the absurd.
There will be a full supporting bill as well as host and compere Ryan Gleeson.
* The Edge, 22 Hardhorn Road, Poulton. Thursday from 8pm. Admission: 5. Advance booking: (01253) 882051
