Cabaret feast

BLACKPOOL entertainer Leye D Johns has teamed up with award winning restaurant Kwizeen for his latest venture.

Currently headlining at the Green Parrot on Clifton Street – where former host Betty Legs Diamond has now relinquished control – and guesting on Joe Longthorne's Saturday night North Pier Theatre show, Leye has secured the King Street restaurant to look after the catering for his Christmas show at Layton Institute.

The Westcliffe Drive venue is set to be transformed into Leye's Cabaret Lounge for the Christmas season and he has now secured the services of Kwizeen's award-winning chef Marco Calle-Calatayud to provide the nightly three-course meal to go with the show.

For traditionalists, there will be turkey and trimmings but Marco's outside catering team will also have treats including seared fillet of hake, honey glazed baked ham or vegetarian option of Lancashire cheese and caramelised onion en croute.

"I want everything to be perfect for my guests this Christmas because everyone works so hard all year," said Leye. "They deserve a fabulous night out once a year – and I'm going to give it to them!

"The show will have brand new stage sets, new routines, even a new entrance to the venue, and it was important to me that we have top quality food to make everything extra special.

"This year we have made it more affordable, with prices starting at 25 for a meal and show package, or from just 5 to watch the show – and the drinks are great value as well."

The show will run from November 25 until late December and star Leye, Layton's own Darren Coulton and the Thunder showgirls.

Leye has also hand picked a mix of vocal talents from Jimmy Love, Diane Lee Carol, Jamie Rae and Phil Jeffries to perform with him.

"Since launching my new shows at Layton, there has been a fabulous response with people snapping up tickets early, especially fans who have seen me perform Christmas shows in Blackpool," said Leye.

Bookings can be made on (08456) 809519.
