Break from style for local author
BEST-selling Fleetwood novelist Margaret Blake has expressed delight with her latest novel – a departure from her familiar and well-loved style.
Margaret was first published in 1977 and has since written 20 novels.
Although her books have predominantly been historical romances, 67 year old Margaret says her new book is based on romantic suspense and crime.
Margaret says: "I have always been interested in history but I found "Breaking the Clouds" more stimulating to write.
"However it did take me longer to complete."
Despite being a highly successful writer, Margaret did suffer from writer's block for eight years, but managed to overcome it with the support of the Romantic Novelist Association.
Margaret says: "I travelled to Australia and New Zealand and whilst there, came in contact with another member of the association, Lauren."
Margaret reveals it was Lauren who inspired her to buy a computer and concentrate on writing again.
And a grateful Margaret has since returned the favour, returning to British Publisher Robert Hale and recommending a now published Lauren.
Although many of her characters and storylines are influenced by world events, Margaret says Fleetwood and its seafront allows her the freedom she needs to write.
The Manchester-born writer is certainly busy at the moment – she currently has three more books in the pipeline.
Breaking the Clouds is published by Robert Hale Limited and is available from book stores, www.halebooks.com and www.amazon.com
