Gazette Rock Quest 2009 finalists The Valvetronics have become the latest MySpace sensations.

Less than two weeks after posting their MySpace profile the Blackpool band, who reached the Gazette rock competition's finals by gaining the highest number of readers' votes, took the number one spot on the UK Blues Chart at MySpace.com - knocking world famous singer and songwriter Alicia Keys from the top spot.

Yesterday they were also ranked number three in the MySpace UK Rock chart, number 20 on the UK All Music chart and number 29 on the Worldwide Blues chart.

Previous MySpace discoveries have included Arctic Monkeys and Lily Allen.

Neil Cotton, spokesman for the band said: "A lot of time and effort has been spent promoting the MySpace profile and a thousand plus Facebook messages for people to check out the new profile. "The band have contacts with a lot of American and UK musicians who have been spreading the word, along with fans, friends and family."

The site was established to promote the band's debut single, Still Got Ma Guitar, which is due for release in March and has already received over 8,000 views and plays.

The charts are calculated on daily plays and visits from each country.

The debut single consists of the three tracks - Still Got Ma Guitar and bonus tracks Fine Day to Die and One Fine Lady, with all three tracks currently holding positions one two and three of the UK Blues Chart.

"On the strength of the MySpace results we have received tour support offers from both UK and international acts for UK tours," said Neil.

The Valvetronics work under their own self funded independent label, CitiDel Records run from Blackpool, and the band represent themselves via CG Entertainment, a Blackpool based event and band management company.

The single was recorded at Blackpool's Rock Hard Studios.

Of their Rock Quest 2009 final appearance The Gazette said: "Dressed in combat gear they declared war on audience apathy and gave a performance as solid as their sound. Probably the tightest all rounders of the night they fuse guitar led and drum driven rock and blues into a thoroughly reliable Blackpool boogie."
