A NEW speed device is to be deployed in Wesham.
The Town Council agree to the purchase a recent Town Council meeting.

The rechargeable battery powered device, which will cost about £2,500, will be deployed randomly in Wesham and will be available for rent by other Town and Parish Councils.

Wesham Councillor, Simon Renwick, is delighted with the buy.
He said: "Wesham is the first Town Council in Fylde to purchase such a device.
"All the evidence points to the devices having a major impact on reducing speed and therefore making the roads safer.

"I think this is a real advancement for a forward thinking Town Council and I am proud to have been involved in this decision and ultimately the purchase."

He added: "I also feel that being able to hire the unit out for a small administrative cost will foster good will and help the rest of rural Fylde with any speeding issues they have.

"The next step is identifying a couple more sites in Wesham to supplement the one on Fleetwood Road and the one on Weeton Road.

"But this is of course great news and I really am looking forward to the arrival of this unit and the subsequent improvement in road safety."
