A BID for extra street lighting in Wesham has been given the go ahead.
The lights have been installed to make the community feel safer.

Funded by Lancashire County Council, the new lights will be introduced between the garages that link Princess Avenue with Catherine Street.

Other Street lights has been installed at Knightsbridge Close and one between Catherine Street and Albert Street.

Wesham councillor, Simon Renwick, is delighted with the news.
He said: 'This is great.

"The garages have long been a short cut to the shops and post office in Wesham from the houses on Princess Avenue and beyond.

"I would like to thank Lancashire County Council for agreeing to fund this light and I look forward to it being installed in the near future."

He added: "I have received many complaints and requests from residents who live around there and hopefully this will make them feel safer using the short cut after dark.

"I now have two further locations for street lighting and I will of course continue to campaign for them.

"One is on the railway bridge over to the Kingfisher and the other is in the garage area that links Meadow Crescent with Princess Avenue."
