PLANS to turn a landmark Lytham building into a restaurant and bar complex have been approved by Fylde Council.
Councillors voted in support of the plan to turn the former Lytham Police Station and Magistrates' Court on Bannister Street – a Grade Two listed building – into a "bespoke" eaterie and nine flats.

It has been empty since Lancashire Police moved to a new base on Clifton Street in 2006.

Remove

Applicants, Blakely Finch Developments claim they will retain the Edwardian courtroom within the building, which they bought for £575,000 at auction last year.

But Lytham St Annes Civic Society, who opposed the plans, say a proposal to remove furniture from the courtroom will see it "gutted," and effectively, "destroyed."

The plans were passed despite objections from neighbours, who said there was already enough restaurants and flats in the area.
