IT was four seasons in one day for revellers at Wrea Green Field Day.
After last year's torrential downpours it came as a pleasant relief to organisers when the sun shone on the Green – 10 minutes after the parade started.

Big bugs, Mr Men characters and High School Musical floats were among the procession which weaved its way around the village for the annual event.

And the heavy rain which arrived just before the parade started could not dampen the high spirits of organisers and villagers alike.

Rose Queen Helen Bradbrook led the procession followed by three Fylde bands, morris dancers and floats.

Committee chairman Jack Dobson said: "Thankfully the clouds lifted and we were once again allowed to enjoy a very good parade.

"Some of the fancy dress this year was of a very high standard – especially the Mr Men outfits – everyone pulls together when it comes round to the Field Day.

"When I looked at the weather in the morning I feared it could be history repeating itself, but the weather wasn't so bad.

"It's been another very successful parade for the village."

Mark Wildish, who was among a number of the characters dressed up for the day, said: "The weather is a lot better than last year which is a blessing and the parade has been very good.

"It's a great occasion when the entire village comes together to celebrate."

Vanessa Sanderson, a member of Wrea Green Gardeners, resplendent with Bill and Ben Flowerpot Men children, said: "It has rained again but we won't let that spoil our day.

"We have got lots of family members here and friends and it's been a great day out."
