TV doc's top tip sparks sell-out
A FLEETWOOD health supplements firm has received the perfect tonic.
Their business has received a £40,000 pick-me-up thanks to a TV plug from Dr Chris Steele.
That's the amount of sales generated for Healthy and Essential, based in Albert Square, who have inundated with orders for Corvalen, a product from America which is used for extreme fatigue or fibromyalgia, a condition where fatigue is accompanied by severe pains.
"We have been totally taken by surprise," said company director Ramsay McLellan.
"We had only just started selling Corvalen.
"We had just become suppliers for the UK and Europe and this has got going so quickly.
"Thousands of tubs have gone and now we are out of stocks and waiting for new supplies. We are waiting for fresh supplies to arrive from the States and we have hundreds of customers waiting for their orders.
"Staff have worked all hours to get the orders done."
The company, which employs seven people, had heard about Corvalen because of an association with the Essential Health Clinic in Glasgow which specialises in natural remedies.
Dr Steele mentioned the Fleetwood suppliers on ITV's This Morning programme, and specifically Corvalen.
Also on the show was former glamour model Jo Guest who suffers from fibromyalgia and the programme received more than 200 e-mails in response.
Dr Steele said corvalen had produced astounding results.
He said: "It's a type of sugar which is mixed with water and taken as a drink and creates a surge of energy into muscles."
Since it was formed five years by Mr McLellan and Paul Farquhar Healthy and Essential has prospered by concentrating on internet sales of Omega 3 and American flaxseed oil.
In 2003 a recommendation in the Sunday Times gave them a huge up-turn in sales and the following year they were the North West Chamber of Commerce's fastest growing business.
