All five Fleetwood newcomers are expected to be on view against Blackpool as manager Tony Greenwood plots the club's baptism in the Blue Square North, where they kick off at home to Hucknall Town on August 9.

Striker Adam Warlow and winger Mark Peers have been snapped up from Witton Albion, whom Fleetwood pipped for the Unibond League title.

Defender Farrell Kilbane and midfielder Kevin Leadbetter have arrived from Burscough and full-back Simon Garner from Stalybridge Celtic.

Fleetwood opened their pre-season itinerary by fielding a mixed team at West Lancashire League club Freckleton last night.

The Seasiders have won the previous two derbies but Greenwood regards the result as very much a secondary issue.

"This game is all about getting match fitness and I've no doubt Simon Grayson looks upon it in the same way," he said.

"It's not as though three points or a place in the next round of a cup are at stake.

"We've already had six training sessions and now we want to play games. We've planned eight or nine friendlies in which to get the lads something like."
