A £1.4m starter homes project should have been a dream come true for people starting out on the property ladder.
But six months after 10 town houses were put up by the Regenda housing association on Chatsworth Avenue, half are still unoccupied.
Regenda is blaming a down-turn in the housing market with mortgages increasingly difficult to obtain and now they are making a fresh bid to attract buyers to the shared-ownership scheme.
A Regenda spokeswoman said: "General interest has been very good, but in the last few weeks a downturn in the market has affected the rate of interest in terms of the number of people coming forward.
"We have had a couple of cases recently where the increased restrictions by lenders have meant that is where some people have fallen because they can't get a mortgage.
"They are factors all property sales but we feel these properties are still very good value."
The shared ownership means owners buying 75 per cent of the property, and paying a market rent for the remaining 25 per cent.
The homes available have three bedrooms and start at £77,250 for a 75 per cent share.
Carole Rose, sales manager for Regenda said "This is a fantastic opportunity in Fleetwood, where first time buyers should consider their options and look at properties for sale that have been designed specifically for their needs.
"Linton Mews provides the perfect opportunity for local people to get a foot on the housing ladder and purchase an
affordable, good quality home at a time when property prices are high."
The double-glazed homes have spacious fitted kitchens, including hob oven and
extractor fan, good-sized rear garden with decked area,
garden shed and secure parking for two cars.
The homes went on the site of the former Cutty Sark pub and were put on the market with great fanfare in January.
More information on the houses is available at the sales office which is open Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm or by calling 0151 707 2151. Alternatively, potential buyers can log on to www.
