Plucky Stephanie Hill is biting her nails at the thought of a 165ft leap of faith she is making for our Eve in Africa Appeal.
Stephanie (right), 21, is doing a sponsored bungee jump over the water at Salford Quays, Manchester, at the weekend to raise money to help equip a Happy House orphanage in Kenya, the latest project of Blackpool hotelier Sue Hayward, founder of the charity Children of Watamu.
Stephanie, of Sherringham Way, Poulton, isn't going to be alone in her efforts - her sister, Lyndsey, 25, will be joining her in the sponsored jump.
"People are doing sponsored walks all the time, I wanted to do something a bit different so that more people would sponsor me," said Stephanie, who works for art company WRT, Kirkham.
The story of how Sue is transforming lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged children in Kenya was the motivation for the girls' effort.
They want to help her achieve her dream of completing the Happy House, now under construction, which will provide a home for 100 destitute youngsters, orphaned by Aids or other disease.
Stephanie said: "I went to Kenya last year and although I thought I had prepared myself for the poverty I would see, I still found it heartbreaking.
"The children have so little and yet they are still smiling and happy.
"I couldn't stop think about the children I saw but I thought one person couldn't do anything to make a difference, until I read about Sue.
"She shows how one person can change lives. She is such an inspiration. Hopefully I will be able to visit Sue's project next year."
Stephanie and Lyndsey's efforts are being backed by family, friends and colleagues.
Their mum, Bev Higham, a clerk on the intensive care and high dependency unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital is also collecting sponsors.
Lyndsey, who works as a cardiac physiologist trainee at Wythenshaw Hospital, Manchester, is raising sponsorship there.
"We want to raise as much as we can," said Stephanie.
She admitted to being nervous about the jump. "I don't think I'm afraid of heights, but I am about to find out. The nearer it gets, the more I think about it."

APPEAL FACTS
Every day Sue Hayward's Happy House dream is getting closer to becoming a reality.
Local builders in the village of Watamu are working to get the building finished by the end of this year, ready to welcome the
destitute children for whom it will be
home.
The Happy House, the latest project of Children of Watamu, the charity set up by Blackpool hotelier Sue, will give 100 youngsters, orphaned by Aids, malaria and other diseases which claim so many lives, a safe home, family, education and love.
And every penny you donate to our Eve in Africa Appeal will help take these
vulnerable children off the streets.
So far our appeal has raised £5,000 - but we still need more. Please continue to help by sending your donation.
Gazette Women's Editor Elizabeth Gomm will be visiting the Children of Watamu projects with founder Sue Hayward in July and her reports will show how your money is helping to make a difference to some of Keyna's most vulnerable children - it's orphans.
