RELIVE the magic of David Essex live in concert at Blackpool Opera House on Sunday.
Since the 1970s right up to the current day, David has been a national treasure and has captured thousands of hearts as an accomplished stage and screen star, as well as a chart topping singer.

This latest concert tour brings together all the favourite hits including Hold Me Close, Gonna Make You A Star and his debut hit Rock On, together with tracks from his latest album.

Remaining tickets are priced £22.50, £20 and £17.50 and are available through (0844) 856 1111 and online at www.blackpoollive.com
The David Essex story started when he went to an audition for the London production of the musical Godspell and was chosen by enthusiastic US producers for the role of Jesus, which shot him to fame. He receivedd two major awards and ecstatic reviews. Among the cast were Jeremy Irons, Julie Covington and Marti Webb.

Film producer David Puttnam saw him in Godspell and asked him to play the lead in That'll Be The Day, co-starring Ringo Starr, and its sequel Stardust, co-starring Larry Hagman and Adam Faith.

These two films about the rise and fall of pop star Jim Maclaine are still among the most acclaimed about the rock scene and enjoy a wide cult following.

While filming That'll Be The Day David wrote and recorded Rock On which topped the charts in Britain and the USA – and paved the way for a string of other hits.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice asked him to play Che in the musical Evita. He recorded Oh What A Circus from the show and saw it reach number three in the charts.

Following that he performed film and stage roles including a 16 month run in his own musical – Mutiny! – and various straight roles.
Awarded an OBE in 1999 for his services to charity David has combined touring with theatre work – including a summer season run in Blackpool starring in Boogie Nights II.
