Jodie Prenger
THE former Elmslie school girl attended Blackpool and the Fylde College before working locally as an entertainer. She is now down to the final seven on BBC show I'll Do Anything, vying for the role of Nancy in Andrew Lloyd Webber's next West End show, Oliver.
Alfie Boe
FLEETWOOD-born Alfie Boe studied at Cardinal Allen school before becoming a mechanic at the TVR factory in Bispham at 17. After being discovered by a customer at the factory, Alfie went on to study at The Royal College of Music in London and is often labelled Britain's favourite tenor.
The Nolans
IRISH singers Tommy and Maureen Nolan launched The Singing Nolans, in 1963. At the end of 1979, the group released the single I'm In The Mood For Dancing, which became their best-known tune. Most of the sisters have had TV careers and theatre work.
Tony Williams
BLACKPOOL councillor Tony Williams enjoyed fame as the bassist of rock band Jethro Tull. He went on to form Stealers Wheel before starting a PR consulting agency. He is council cabinet member with responsibility for leisure.
Chris Lowe
FORMER Arnold schoolboy Chris Lowe teamed up with friend Neil Tennant to make up pop duo, Pet Shop Boys, one of the UK's most successful acts of the 80s and 90s.
Jonas Armstrong
JONAS Armstrong was raised in St Annes and educated at Arnold School where he took part in many school productions before graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2003. He plays the title role in the BBC's Robin Hood.
John Simm
LEEDS-born actor John Simm saw his career go sky high after he studied at Blackpool and the Fylde College. His many roles include Detective Sam Tyler in Life on Mars and the Master in Dr Who.
David Thewlis
BLACKPOOL-born actor David Thewlis has had high profile film roles. He starred opposite Brad Pitt in Seven Years in Tibet and has enjoyed the role of Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter films.
Hayley Tamaddon
MONTGOMERY High School graduate Hayley Tamaddon shot to fame as Delilah Dingle in ITV's Emmerdale. Hayley was runner-up in ITV's Soapstar Superstar which led to her singing with Michael Ball at the Opera House in Blackpool.
Phil Walker
LYTHAM comedian Phil Walker has risen through the local talent circuit and is now an established member of the alternative comedy scene. He is a panto favourite and summer season regular. His dad is Catchphrase host Roy Walker.
Mick Miller
BLACKPOOL favourite Mick Miller is a veteran of the legendary series The Comedians and is shortly to appear alongside Johnny Vegas in BBC Three's cult comedy, Ideal. Mick lives in Poulton.
