A disabled badge holders only sign on Abingdon Street in Blackpool for feature on parking sign confusion.

IT is a very good thing to stop the misuse of blue badges (Gazette, January 20).

But what has been done will not stop the biggest misuse, that of family members using the disabled person’s badge when they are not in the car.

The new badge, hopefully, will stop copies, but putting the holder’s picture on the front so that the wardens can see it at a glance would be a big help.

To m,e this is just common sense. Plus your article said the badge was free, well there is a small charge of £10.

I FEEL I must reply to Nita O’Neill (Letters, January 19) regarding chewing gum on the streets of Blackpool, but how Poulton is free of it.

As the reader lives on Breck Road, I’m surprised that she’s missed the mess outside the railway station and The Cube, not to mention round the corner on Vicarage Road outside The Residence, both sides of Ball Street, bus stops at the back of the Teanlowe Centre and most of the pubs.

Not to mention discarded cigarette stubs and packets, takeaway packaging and all kinds of litter.

Having lived in Poulton for more than 50 years, I’d say it’s definitely not like it used to be.

n A FEW years ago, I wrote to the council to suggest they adopt something I had seen in Jersey where they had put up gum boards for people to stick their chewing gum on.

Why not use this idea here?

If the boards were of comic figures it would draw the old and the young alike to use them.

I HAD to go for an operation to the Blackpool Victoria Hospital, and what a pleasure it turned out to be.

Right from meeting the smiling receptionist, who was so kind and helpful.

I was out the same day, felt well and happy, ready to go on the same week to see my wonderful Blackpool team play against Crystal Palace.
