That's another pine mess...
THE title of jobsworth this week has to be awarded to Fylde Council.
Following a productive Easter break spent gardening and filling both of my compost bins and green bins, the green bins were duly put out on collection day, along with the new cardboard bag, newspaper bags, glass, cans and plastics containers.
All was taken except my green bins which had 'contaminated' stickers stuck to them. Contaminated with cardboard it said!
No cardboard present (that was in the new bag).
My crime can only be that the contamination was a pineapple top in one bin and a potato peeling in the other. Does this seriously constitute the sticker and leaving my bins un-emptied?
I suggest that somebody at Fylde Borough looks at the true meaning of contaminated and also what green compostable material actually is.
As a keen and responsible gardener that has been composting material for over 35 years I believe I am able to identify what can and cannot go into green waste.
I suggest to Fylde Council it is seriously time to give its residents value for its incredibly high council taxes and stop being so stupidly petty.

Thanks for joining us on the walk
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Red for Heart Valentine Walk recently.
The walkers raised a fantastic 5,200 for the British Heart Foundation Red for Heart Appeal which aimed to raise 1.5m in February for research into saving the lives of people suffering from heart and circulatory disease.
Over a hundred people of all different ages took part on the walk which started and finished at the DeVere Hotel in Blackpool.
Many thanks to all the volunteers and the Hotel for organising this event.

Beware of the crafty fox
Please can I alert residents living near the disused railway line near Tithebarn Park, Carleton, that a fox is actively stealing small animals including hens, a cat and a rabbit from gardens around us on the Arundel Estate.
It is probably feeding young.
The most likely time for the fox (which has been seen) to pursue its prey is very early morning.
