A FYLDE coast town is gearing up to celebrate the 60th year of the Queen’s reign.
Garstang mayor Lady Dulcie Atkins is preparing for beacons to be lit, trees to be planted, bunting to be out and one big street party.
Lady Atkins is inviting residents to the first event in the town on February 8.
This will be reading of the Windsor Castle Proclamation marking the Queen’s accession to the throne in 1952.
The reading will take place at the Town Cross, Market Place, at 11am followed by a service at St Thomas’ Church, starting at 2pm.
The official celebrations will take place across the extended Bank Holiday at the start of June and volunteers are still being sought for arrangements and ideas.
On Friday June 1, plans are underway for walks around Garstang to look at the planted and decorated gardens.
