The 76-year-old had run the pub for over a decade since it was refurbished in 2013.

The boozer was known for its live music - with acts performing each Friday - and for its lively Sunday afternoon karaoke sessions.

But rumours began circulating last month suggesting the pub was set to close.

Last week, management posted on Facebook saying rising costs and an increase in staff wages due to the new national minimum wage had made it increasingly difficult to run the pub at a profit.

Announcing the closure on Facebook, the pub said: “It is with great sadness that I have to announce Dead’uns is to close its doors on Monday 1st of April.

“Over the past 10 and a half years since our opening, we have been fortunate to have met and worked with some wonderful staff and musicians and most importantly you our valued customers.

“This is a sad day for us but every journey must end one day, and I will now finally be able to retire.

“Our family appreciate all the support you have given us over the past few years and it is with a heavy heart that we will close our doors for the last time on Monday.

“Many, many thanks to all of you - the customers who have been with us throughout and those we have lost.

“Linda, Katie, Elaine and Lauren are truly saddened by the closure and it’ll be a sad day for us all.

“To our staff Darron, Raymond, Liz and recently Solomon - thank you from all of us for standing by us all this time. You all have been like family.

“We wish you all the success in the future.”
