Toddler hit by tram in Blackpool

A TWO-year-old boy is recovering is hospital today after he was hit by a tram in Blackpool.
The toddler, who is believed to be local, was struck by the tram close to St Stephen's Avenue in Bispham just before 6pm yesterday.

It is thought the boy stepped out in front of the vehicle and was dragged several yards before the tram came to a standstill.

Police have said the youngster has head injuries.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We received a call just after 5.45pm saying a toddler had been hit by a tram.

"The boy was dragged under the tram and is suffering from head injuries.

"But the injuries are not believed to be life threatening."
