Teenager charged with murder

DETECTIVES have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder following the death of a pensioner.
George Thornley, 68, was discovered by friends in the kitchen of his home on Meadow Close, Clifton, at just after 7pm on December 2.

He had suffered serious head and hand injuries as well as a throat wound.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remained in the Critical Care Unit.

Mr Thornley remained at the hospital where he died on Sunday, Decmber 21, surrounded by loved ones.

Police charged a local boy with his murder this afternoon. He had previously been accused of attempted murder.

The youngster is due to appear at Blackpool Youth Court this afternoon.
