A TAXI driver was threatened with a gun and robbed by a gang of youths.
Police said the driver dropped off a couple on the Callon estate in Preston early on Sunday when youths surrounded his cab.

One thrust a gun against his neck and demanded money before the gang took all the cash in the car, punching him several times before running off.

A 17-year-old has since been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Det Insp Dave Mckenna of Preston CID said he is keen to hear from the couple who had been travelling in the cab just before the attack at 2.45am.

"This couple might have crucial information, they might have seen the people who are responsible," he said.

"We believe they are possibly innocent, so we would ask them to come forward and tell us what they have seen.

"Also anybody who may have seen three males in the area at the time, or anybody on the estate who knows who is responsible is being asked to come forward."
