A MAN who stalked a woman, sending her flowers and chocolates, has been ordered by a court to keep away from her.
Anthony Owens' feelings were not returned by the woman butcher, who the court heard was friendly to all customers at her market stall.

Owen, 51, of Carshalton Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to harassing the woman.

He was put on a two year restraining order and must not contact Miss Clarkson or go to her workplace. Blackpool Magistrates also ordered him to pay £35 costs.

Wendy Evans, prosecuting, said the woman first met Owen when he bought meat from her stall at the resort's Abingdon Street market. In May last year he declared his love for her, but his repeated attendance at her stall became annoying and she asked him to leave her alone.

Malcolm Cartwright, defending, said: "He became besotted and believed he was in love with her. He asked whether there was a chance for him and she did not definitely refuse.

"He never followed or threatened her."
