DO you recognise this shed?
Unfortunately for bosses at one Marton rock factory, the sight of this pile of timber has become all too familiar after somebody dumped it on their land.

Geoff Race, director of Blackwoods Limited on Cowley Road, Marton, was astonished when he arrived for work yesterday to find the dismantled shed had been left on his property overnight.

Mr Race said: "I just couldn't believe my eyes when I arrived to see this huge pile of timber on our forecourt.

"Somebody has obviously taken down the structure, loaded it into a van and looked for somewhere to dump it.

"Unfortunately we've been the unlucky ones in this case.

"We are in an industrial area and have had small things like tyres dumped on our property before but never anything like this.

"I find It unbelievable people can be this selfish."

Mr Race, 64, has had the Blackpool rock factory on Cowley Road for more than 40 years. He is hopeful that the sight of the timber may jog someone's memory as to where it came from so the culprits can be caught.

He added: "I expect they have done this because you aren't allowed to take vans to the tip, you have to take them to a transfer station and pay a fee.

"Rather than pay that they have decided to pass the expense on to me. I phoned the police and environmental health but it appears I'm going to have pay for it to be removed myself.

"It's blocking our loading bay so I am either going to have to use one of our vans to load it all up and pay the fee or, even worse, pay for a skip to take it away.

"I just hope somebody will recognise the pile so we can find out who has done this."

Coun Ian Fowler, cabinet member for business services at Blackpool Council, said: "Fly tipping is a national problem. Unfortunately people do chose to illegally dump their waste on private property and public spaces.

"We are committed to targeting people who carry out this illegal activity and strive to keep the town clean and tidy."

Coun Fowler added that the council offered a service to collect bulky items as well as large-scale removal such as house clearances.

Although I don't condone fly tipping, havent the council made it increasingly difficult to dispose of waste !
Be it litter bags, or bigger items, the councils receive money no matter how rubish is disposed of..
As jobs are invented, they need paying for, in the name of green issue's.. Who are they kidding...

note how the councillor deftly avoided saying 'yes , Mr Race will have to pay for this, despite the fact that as a business owner he already pays excessive business rates.

I'm sorry to hear that you are the target of some unscruplous people..Lets hope these people are not business people that the public have to deal with.. good reference for them.??Of course you have vans, but if you have cars get 2 men to put it in cars & take it,no charge..failing this isn't wood resusable.cant it be grind up in a machine for sawdust..lol or doesnt this make enough money for council?
