A BLACKPOOL sales company has been raided as part of a major fraud probe.
Trading Standards investigators descended on the Caunce Street offices of Telesales People Limited.

Thousands of pounds of computer equipment was confiscated and many paper documents taken as part of the massive investigation into an alleged insurance racket.

The raids follow more than 300 complaints from people who claimed they had been targeted by unscrupulous call centre workers.

Cold calling staff are alleged to have enticed customers with the promise they were going to be given money back after being mis-sold payment protection insurance.

Many of those caught up say they were asked to hand over their credit and debit card details.

Some say up to £150-a-time has been taken from their bank accounts without their knowledge.

The level of complaints against Telesales People Limited led Blackpool Trading Standards to act.

An office in Bolton - thought to be linked to the Caunce Street operation - has also been raided.

Glen Phoenix, from Blackpool Trading Standards, said: "We've had 300 complaints.

"However, it's possible hundreds more people have also been targeted, but have not reported it."
