TWO police officers were attacked and injured as they tried to arrest a teenage girl on suspicion of assault.
Both were taken to hospital with bitemarks from the incident, which started at about 8.45pm yesterday in Mereside. They are undergoing blood tests because of the nature of the injuries.
The trouble broke out when a girl of 15 was
assaulted and police tried to arrest another teenager, who was pregnant.
The two officers first on the scene at Birkside Way had to call for assistance after the juvenile's family tried to stop the arrest.
The 15-year-old victim's father, who had angina, collapsed at the scene and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, but refused treatment.
A Blackpool police spokesman said: "This was a violent incident. It seems a girl was assaulted and we were called."
The female victim of the original assault was not taken to hospital. A teenage girl and a teenage boy were arrested and being questioned today.
