The clever folk at Blackpool Post Office were not going to be beaten by a box with the sketchiest of addresses... "Nancy, Newton Drive, Blackpool".
It might be a long street, with a lot of houses, but in Blackpool there's only one Nancy in the new
s right now – singing sensation Jodie Prenger.
The 28-year-old striking out for stardom as Nancy in West End revival of Oliver! is receiving a stack of fan mail every day from fans backing her bid to win the part in BBC1's I'd Do Anything! talent search.
Through to tonight's quarter-final, Jodie is buoyed up by the kindness of those people putting pen to paper to wish her luck.
"Cards and parcels are arriving here every day," said her proud mum Madeleine.
"I am opening them up and taking them down to London to her each weekend.
"One parcel arrived simply addressed to Nancy, Newton Drive, Blackpool. It was good luck wishes and a teddy bear.
"That's five teddy bears so far this week!
"Cards and letters, some without proper addresses, are getting through to Jodie.
"It's just so nice for her and she is so grateful."
Jodie, now down to the final five in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest search for a star, has spent yet another week in the London "Nancy house" rehearsing a new song and is still loving every minute.
She said: "What a lot of people at home don't actually realise is the amount of training we're getting and the people we get to work with.
"I can't tell you how much I've learnt, cramming 10 years of coaching into a few weeks.
"It's been the most phenomenal experience I'll ever have."
Jodie's delighted the public and the judges wanted to see her in the quarter-finals.
She added: "It really makes me feel proud. That's the only word you can use to summarise it. It's a privilege to be here and you've got to work for it.
Chuffed"All that work pays off though. My mum and dad were chuffed after the show, my mum even started crying.
"I'm feeling the pressure now. There are only five of us left, which is tough but I will come out blazing.
"Nancy was a fighter and I am going to go on fighting.
"I'm really grateful to the people who support me week in and week out and vote to keep me in the show.
"I just want to make them proud. I owe them the hugest thank you."
n You can back Jodie by tuning into I'd Do Anything! on BBC1 tonight at 7.45pm. The results show follows tomorrow night.
