MOTORISTS have been reminded to lock up their cars after a spate of thefts in Wyre.
Police say two sat-nav systems, a digital camera and money was stolen from four unlocked vehicles in Poulton in the early hours of Sunday, with thieves targeting cars on Fairway and Torside Grove.

A digital camera, another sat-nav system and a Nin
tendo DS games console were also stolen from a locked car on Ladybower Lane.

Officers are now advising motorists to take care to lock their cars and take expensive and valuable items out of their cars.

Unlocked

Wyre crime prevention officer, PC Ian Hill said: "The increase in theft from vehicles that we have seen is more than accounted for by thefts from unlocked cars and theft of satellite navigation systems.

"The message from the police is clear. Please lock your cars when unattended, even at home on the drive.

"Always remove valuables from display.

"Also, do not leave satellite navigation systems on display, and do not just remove the system and leave the cradle on display. Thieves will assume it is in the glove box and break in anyway if they need to.

"Remove the cradle and the ring that the sucker leaves on the windscreen.

"These simple measures could reduce car crime substantially."

Anyone with information should contact police on (01253) 876611 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
